The final presentation at the Design Network last month was by Mugendi M’Rithaa, a senior lecturer at the Department of Industrial Design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Mugendi presented Cape Town’s bid to be World Design Capital in 2014 highlighting the theme of Live Design. Transform Life. Cape Town’s bid shows how design is about reconnecting the people to the city and how it is being used to overcome major socio-economic and cultural problems within the city.
